1. What's Rugby? 



Rugby is a team play between two fifteen-person teams, consisting in feeding an oval ball with the hand or leg, with forward handing is prohibited; Points are scored for putting the ball on the opponent's point field (5 points), for a targeted shot on an H-shaped screen, with a bar placed at 3 meters above which the ball must be flipped (3 points). After applying in the so-called increase (effective is worth 2 points); the ball is placed on the stand (once a sand hill was built up) on a line perpendicular to the end line of the ball and passing through the place where the touchdown was made, but at a distance from the pillars.

Rugby is  national sport of New Zealand.

3. Is there Rugby World Cup ?



Rugby World Cup is an international tournament organized by the IRB (International Rugby Board). The first tournament took place in 1987, in Australia and New Zealand. Since then, more competitions have been held every four years. The winners receive a William Webb Ellis cup, named in honor of a student at the Rugby school who is considered as the creator of the game. The team of New Zealand triumphed the most times (three times). However, the national teams of Australia and South Africa 2 times, and once England. The world cup in rugby is the third most-watched event on television right after the World Cup in football and the summer Olympic games.


4. Who wasWilliam Webb Ellis? 


He was the legendary creator of the rugby game. In 1816, William Webb Ellis began learning at Rugby School in the city of Rugby in Warwickshire. He made himself known there as an excellent student and promising cricketer. He did not go down in history as a scholar, but thanks to the 1823 event in which he took part.

According to the current version, during the football game Webb Ellis caught the ball, ran with it and scored the goal. It is worth nothing that according to the then rules of the game football was allowed to catch the ball in hand, while it was forbidden to move around the pitch with the ball in his hands. That behavior of Webb Ellis resulted in a total ban on the use of hands on the pitch. This ban in turn initiated a split into Association football, meaning football and Rugby football, known in the current form of rugby.


5. What's Six Nations?



Six Nations is the most important international rugby competition in Europe and the oldest rugby tournament in the world. The national teams of England, France, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Italy take part in it. The competition takes place every year, and the winner is considered an unofficial European champion. The team that defeats all five rivals receives the Grand Slam. The weakest team of games receives the distinction of a wooden spoon.

It's an annual tournament played between the national teams of Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.




 7. Name three Rugby Legends


Jonny Wilkinson



An English rugby player who plays as the attack connector. World Champion in 2003 and runner up in the world in 2007.
In 2003, he led England to win the world cup in Australia. In the final, the England team defeated Australia 20-17. After winning the World Cup, Wilkinson received the noble title from the Queen of England. Jonny Wilkinson was recognized in 2003 as the best Rugbist in the world. In his career, he scored 5179 points and played 420 meetings.

Carlos Spencer

A New Zealand rugby player, he played in the position of attack connector. Bronze medalist from 2003. In the match for bronze, New Zealand defeated France 40-13. In 2006 he was elected the best rugby player in the world.


Jonah Lomu


New Zealand rugby player, he played in the wing position. For the New Zealand national team he played 73 games and scored 215 points. The vice-champion of the world from 1995, and in 1999 he took 4th place.
In 2003, due to illness, his career was broken. In 2004, he underwent a kidney transplant, which ended with a thought. He died in 2015. He became a legend of rugby in New Zealand.

Grzegorz Kacała



Polish rugby player, he played the openside flanker. Recognized as the greatest Polish rugbist in history. In Poland he played in Lechia Gdansk and Ogniwo Sopot. He achieved his greatest successes in the French club CA Brive. In 1997 he won with the Champions Cup club and was elected the best player of the meeting.
