Holiday Destinations - Scandinavia: Bergen and Stockholm

Bergen

1. Bergen is located in Norway, legion of Hordaland, next to the North and Norwegian Sea.

2. It has about 254,300 inhabitants (Data from 2012).

3. It is called the gate to the fjords - Bergvin, or the meadow beyond the mountains.

4. The city has a sea and mountains next to it.

5. Its raining on average 213 days a year.

6. In Bergen there is a very crowded, popular fish market Torget. There are a lot of people there at any time of the year.

7. Bergen has many monuments, for example, the Bergenhus fortress, the residence Damsgard Manor, the church fantoft.

8. A lot of tourists and locals are cycling there.

9. There are many beautiful places, parks and waterfalls.

10. Bergen was once the capital of Norway. 

Stockholm

1. The Stockholm is the  capital of Sweden.

2. The Swedish crown is the currency.



3. The national drink is coffee.

4. Swedes love to fish. They take a picture of them and let them out. They do not eat them.

5. Swedish dish is marinated herring. It smells so bad you are not allowed to open the tin in public or take it with you on plane.



6. Swedes do not use curtains in the windows.

7. Sweden borders with three countries: Norway, Finland and Denmark.



8. The countrys motto - For Sweden - with the times.

9. 89% of Swedes speak English.

10. "Surströmmingspremiären" is one of the strangest Swedish holidays (feast of pickled herring).
