Majorca


Majorca is the largest Spanish island in the Balearic archipelago, in the Mediterranean, with a length of about 100 km, and an area of 3640 km². About 859 289 inhabitants live on it. The main city and capital of the island is Palma de Mallorca.


The best attractions and places on the island:

* Palma de Mallorca- This is a vibrant city, famous for its rich cultural life, amazing atmosphere and beautiful monuments. Here, Gothic architecture combines with the full temperament of the present. Palma is the most-visited city on the whole of Majorca.

* Cap de Formentor- one of the most beautiful corners of Majorca. Formentor peninsula is located on the north-eastern edge of the island and leads to it a narrow road, full of curves and serpentines, just above the abyss. But it is definitely worth going there for a car trip because fascinating views await you on the route

* Valdemossa- It’s a charming town full of stone houses lost among the greenery, with the characteristic Carthusian monastery, Real Cartuja de Jesus de Nazaret, proudly rising above the village. In this convent, Fryderyk Chopin stayed for three months with his friend George Sand

* Sa Calobra- a creek located among rocky cliffs, in the north of Majorca. There is a serpentine mountain serpentine that runs over it for several kilometers. After reaching the destination, breathtaking views await you.

* Deia- a mountain village considered one of the most beautiful in Mallorca. And there is no reason to be surprised. Located on the northern coast, in the mountain ranges of the Serra de Tramuntana, it provides fascinating landscapes.


- Majorca is a sunny island, where the number of cloudless days in the year reaches 300. The season begins in April and ends in November. The summer is rainless and very warm. In the spring, in April and May, Majorca captivates with its luscious greenery and the riot of colors of thousands of flowers blooming.

- Typical dishes in Mallorca contain two main ingredients, the most important on the island: olive oil and garlic.

- Nearly everywhere you can find souvenir shops, which in their assortment have: ceramic and glassware, dishes from the olive tree, and the specialty of herbal liqueurs. Majorca is also famous for the production of artificial pearls.

- Spain is a country where most of the inhabitants are Catholics. In the tourist destinations of Majorca, it is easy to find a church where religious services are held on Sundays. The largest and most famous Catholic temple on the island is a historic cathedral located in the capital of Majorca - Palma de Mallorca
