Upland Gate (Brama Wyżynna)




Brama wyżynna is a renaissance city gate in Gdansk. Until 1895, it was in the sixteenth-century fortifications, between the Bastion of St. Elżbieta and the Karowa Bastion and it was the main entrance gate to the city, opening the Royal road.

The Prison Tower 

Prison Tower in 1687

The Prison Tower is one of the sights in Gdansk. It was made as element of medieval fortification of the main city in Gdansk. Together with torture chamber and connecting it with the so-called neck is a band of Barbican. The foundations of the Prison Tower come from the 19th century. There’s a viewing platform in the tower open during the summer months. There is a museum of amber and torture now.

The Golden Gate


The Golden Gate in Gdańsk was erected in 1612 on the site of a fourteenth-century gothic gate. The building is the work of the architect Abraham van den Blocke. This monument is located on Długa Street. In 1957, the building was rebuilt after the war damage.

Great Armoury



The armoury was ready in 1605 and was the answer to an ever increasing threat from the Swedes. It was erected with Dutch red bricks, richly ornamented and equipped with gilded figures on the top of the building. It burned down in 1945 but was re-erected in the original style after the war.
