Republic of Ireland is a country on a small island, located in north-west Europe, west of the United Kingdom. Its population is 3,841,000. 



Their currency is euro. 
People there are speaking (mostly) English and Irish. 
Ireland’s capital is Dublin and Ireland covers 26 counties. 
The flag of Ireland has three colors - green, white and orange.

GEOGRAPHY

Ireland’s area is 70 284 km². To the west and north of Ireland is Atlantic Ocean, to the east is Irish Sea and to the south Celtic Sea.The western landscape mostly consists of rugged cliffs, hills and mountains. The central lowlands are extensively covered with glacial deposits of clay and sand, as well as significant areas of bogland and several lakes. The highest mountain is Carrauntoohil and has 1,038 m (3,406 ft).

TRADITIONAL IRISH LANGUAGE

Native Irish people learn their traditional language and use it everyday. More than one and a half million population knows something in Irish and 77 thousand use  Irish everyday, mostly in Gaeltacht.
It's spoken as a second language in Ireland by a large group of non-native speakers.

Irish has been the primordial language of population there for most of their national history. They brought it to other regions, including Scotland and the Isle of Man, where Middle Irish gave rise. 
Also, it has the oldest vernacular literature in Western Europe. It has a status of the first and national language of the Republic of Ireland.




RELIGION

Ireland is a country with religious freedom. The most popular religion is Roman Catholic, the second one is Protestant, and the third is Muslim. About 10% of people are non-religious. The Church of Ireland, at 2.7% of the population, is the second largest Christian denomination.

THE HISTORY OF IRELAND

First traces of population on Irish island are from 8000 year before our era.
For over 8500 years it was not separate country until 8th c., when the Vikings took over this island. From 1169 English government started to occupy the island. The Irish have rebelled many times, such as in 1954 year, 1690 year or Irish Revolution in 1798 year. The end of English domination took place in the early twentieth century. It starts by Easter uprising in 1916 and finished in 1921 by signing of the Irish-English treaty. 
From year 1937 The Constitution of Ireland has come into force and Ireland country starts to exist. It exists in an unchanged form to this day.

A TRIP TO IRELAND

If you want to take a trip to Ireland, you can go by a plane or a ship. There is so much airports in Ireland: in Dublin, Kerry, Cork, Donegal, Knock, Waterford, Shannon, Galaway and Sligo. Ireland has a long story, so there are many ruins and castles, like Trim Castle, Drombeg Stone Circle or Belleek Castle Museum. Ireland is a beautiful country with pretty views and nature parks. 
The most popular parks which must be seen are: Killarney National Park and St Stephen’s Green. Natural caves are equally beautiful. There are many of them in the Irish mountains.
